.NET in Depth - March

.NET in Depth      March   April   May   June   July   August   September   October   November   December

Wow! 24 people showed up!

We got started talking about

- types: 15 predefined and 6 user-defined

- talked a bit about memory (stacks and heaps)

Here's the Word doc (should cover March and April's content)

Types.doc

Next month we'll finish up types by focusing on the 6 user-defined ones:

-class

- struct (see Struct In-Depth)

- array

- num

- delegate (see Delegate In-Depth)

- interface

...which should segue nicely into inheritance and interfaces.

Seeing that the conversation "went off the deep end" and got into the stack, heap and garbage collection, here is a Microsoft tool for studying how your application handles memory.  It's helpful for studying garbage collection, use of IDispose and more.

CLR Profiler

How to Use the Profiler

MSDN TV video (and transcript) on a use of the profiler

If you search on "CLR Profiler" you can find other MSDN TV videos, CLR for the 1.1 framework, and more.
